Today’s Patent- Safety Belt
Safety belts in cars are known to all. This invention saves the driver from any untimely fatal accidents. Safety belts were mostly used in sports car. The safety belt was two point belt, which caused several internal injuries because it fastened in a buckle over the abdomen. Bohlin Nils Ivar, invented three point automobile safety belt. Bohlin filed a patent application for this invention on August 17th, 1959.
He got patent protection over this invention on 10th July, 1962. This Patent was protected by USPTO with registration number 3,043,625. As a reason of which today, on 10th July, 2018, we present “Safety Belt” as our “Today’s Patent”. The belt reduced injuries by holding both the upper and lower body which in term reduced the impact of the swift deceleration that occurred in a crash. Volvo started using this safety belt from 1959.
