Although the first warehouse with the name Costco came up in 1983, the company tracks its history to setting up of Price Club in 1976 in California, USA. Price Club and Costco merged in 1993 to form PriceCostco. But in 1997, the name was again changed to Costco. Currently, it is the second largest retailer in the world after Walmart. It is present in 11 countries and has around 748 warehouses all around the globe. Costco is known for carrying less stock keeping units than most supermarkets. Costco was named America’s Best Large Employer for 2017 by Forbes. Costco is at 36 in Fortune Global 500.
