After inventing he “Sewing Machine”, Gibbs, founded a Company namely “Willcox & Gibbs”, to market it , which is still in operation. Sewing Machine has been invented by many inventors, Gibbs, however is the only inventor of Sewing Machine who is out of New England. He patented two of the original features of his machine: the revolving looper which pulled up a definite quantity of needle thread proportionate to the length of the stitch, and a feeding mechanism which fed the work positively between two corrugated surfaces. Gibb’s “Sewing Machine” is considered to be one of the finest piece of 19th Century.
