Aspirin, or acetylsalicylic acid (ASA), is commonly used as a pain reliever for minor aches and pains and to reduce fever. It is one of the most widely used medications in the world which is used to reduce fever. Aspirin was the first non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug(NSAID)
Aspirin in its present form has been around for over 100 years. It is estimated that around 35,000 metric tons of aspirin are consumed annually. The name Aspirin is a trademark owned by the German pharmaceutical company, Bayer. The generic term for aspirin is acetylsalicylic acid (ASA).
Every invention has its negative and positive effect, similarly consuming an excessive amount of aspirin can cause permanent brain damage. It is usually not suitable for those aged under 16 years, because it can increase the risk of Reye’s syndrome which can attract virus which are likely to cause flu, chicken pox etc.
But again Aspirin is one of the most commonly used drugs for treating mild to moderate pain, migraines, and fever. Common uses include headaches, period pains, sprains and strains, and long-term conditions, such as arthritis. It was invented by FELIX HOFFMANN, doctor of philosophy, chemist which was patented in the year 27th of February 1900 and got patent number US644077
