Today’s Patent- Garage Door Opener
On 7th June, 1930, Joseph T Crawley was granted patent on “Garage Door Opener”. This patent was granted by USPTO, with registration number 1862 469.
. The object of this invention was to provide latching means of garage doors may be moved to open position automatically upon the approach or through the travel of the automobile. Another objective is to establish an operative means between doors and the operative means, when the doors are closed. A further object is to provide a novel construction wherein a pedal operates a rod, provided with cranks at opposite ends, one being connected to the pedal and the other to the door latching means. This “Garage door opener” is one of the initial garage door openers that came into existence. After this there were various improvements to this invention.
