Today’s Patent- CLIMBING OR TRAILING ROSE
18th August is a memorable day for all. The reason behind this is the first plant patent was granted on 18th August, 1931 with patent number PP1.
The name of this plant patent was climbing rose or new dawn. This rose with time will acquire considerable length and when given moderate support ‘climb’ and branch out in various directions. This rose also had ever blooming character, meaning that this rose has long blooming period which usually other roses don’t have. Since 1931, USPTO has granted patent protection to many plants and majority of them are roses. This rose opened the gate for patent protection to various other plants.
