Today’s Patent- Waffle Iron
Those who love waffles should thank an American man named Cornelius Swartwout. Why you ask, well because this inventor came up with a significant improvement in a machine called “Waffle Iron”. Now waffle iron was originally made in Netherlands.
Swartwout tried to make this waffle iron easy to hold. Thus he came up with a novel handle for opening, closing and turning the waffle iron while making it. Swartwout got patent protection over this invention on 24th August 1869 with Patent number US94043.
To honour his legacy and his contribution “National Waffle Day” is celebrated every year in the United States. We cannot provide you with waffles, but we sure can wish you all a very happy national waffle day.
