TODAY’S PATENT – ROPE & CABLE CLAMP DEVICE
“Rope and cable clamp device” (US4143446A), invented by Dennis L. R. Down, was patented by the USPTO on 13th March 1979.
The present invention relates to a clamp device for gripping cables or ropes. These devices are used for gripping a cable or rope comprising of two elongate jaws. They also have channels that help in receiving the cable or rope which might be interlocked together.
The primary objective of this invention is to provide a simple and effective clamp device that is capable of making a firm connection to the cable or the rope for the attachment of any desired accessory such as a hook, eye, shackle, swivel, or the like. Further, they can be used for gripping fiber or nylon ropes of the type employed in boats.
