TODAY’S PATENT – SHIN GUARD
In today’s patent we will talk about Ignatius F. Castiglia’s invention, the “Shin guard” which was patented by the USPTO on 22nd December 1981, bearing the patent number US4306315A.
This invention relates to a shin guard having an elastic stocking-like member and a rigid protective member. The man objective of this shin guard is to protect the shin or front lower leg of the wearer against any injury from blows that may be inflicted during participation in athletic sports or when it also gives tight compressive support to the rear portion of the leg.
Further, the shin guard also has a rigid member extending along the front portion of the lower leg of the wearer to redistribute forces of any blows. It also provides a rigid member, made of a formable material so that it can be molded substantially to conform to the front leg portion of any wearer.
