TODAY’S PATENT – PROTECTIVE JACKET
“Protective jacket”, bearing the patent number US3995320 was invented by Samuel L. Zafuto, patented by the USPTO on 7th December 1976.
The present invention relates to an improved chest covering to be used during sports activities. It helps in preventing any injury from a karate blow which could possibly be delivered with a force of 1500 lbs. per square inch, wherein this improvised invention can effectively cushion a heavy blow or force.
There are various models and prior art inventions of inflatable jackets or chest protectors which are intended to prevent chest injury by appropriately cushioning a blow or force delivered by maintaining the air pressure. Although there is an effective, superposed, and aligned pressure air compartment in these inventions, it significantly adds to the cost of construction of the protective jacket, as well as to its weight and bulk.
The present improvement is comparatively a simple, economically manufactured construction which requires only normal air pressure for inflation.
